I just got a great online deal on a Motorola SB6120 SURFboard DOCSIS 3.0 eXtreme Broadband Cable Modem, and would like to share my personal experience with this product by reviewing it here.Modem Overview:I was surprised at the incredible Internet performance boost the SB 6120 gave me. The Motorola SB6120 is reasonably priced, easy to install, and it's raw speed blew me away. I would highly recommend this Motorola Surfboard model if you're in the market for a cable modem.SB6120 Pros:Super Speed - No Lag in Online GamingDOCSIS 3.0 - Up to 4x Faster than DOCSIS 2.0Gigabit Ethernet Port -10/100/1000 Base-TVery Easy to Install and UseNo Additional Software RequiredSB6120 Cons:Higher Price than DOCSIS 2 ModemsBoxy Case Could Have Better Looks Takes longer to boot-up than older cable modemsWhat's in the Box:The first thing I noticed when the SB6120 arrived was that it was noticeably smaller and lighter then my old Linksys cable modem. The modem's enclosure is a black perforated plastic box, about the size of a small book. Included was a small AC power adapter and Ethernet cable. Also in the box was a cable modem installation diagram and documentation CD containing the SB6120 users manual in PDF form.Surfboard Installation:Installation of my new Motorola Surfboard modem was simple. I just disconnected & removed my old Linksys cable modem, connected the coaxial and network cables, and plugged it in. After installing the modem, I called my cable Internet provider (Cox Cable in my case) and they asked for the serial number and MAC address of the new cable modem. You can find these printed on the modem and on the box label. After following the Cox Cable technicians simple instructions, I was online and happily surfing the Internet.Surfboard 6120 Performance:I couldn't wait to jump over to speedtest.net to see what this baby could do. All I can say is WOW, I was getting over 30 Mbps download and almost 6 Mbps upload speed. These are very impressive numbers by any account, and a dramatic increase in speed over my old Linksys cable modem. Conclusion:The Motorola SB6120 is not the cheapest cable modem you can find, but in my honest opinion it's one of the best available cable modem values. The SB6120's speed, features, and excellent customer reviews made the decision a no brainer for me, and I am very satisfied with the modem that I purchased.
